POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Familiarity with regional watershed planning, ecological forestry, and riparian and floodplain restoration in the Pacific Northwest.
- Extensive knowledge of riverine and riparian ecology, fluvial geomorphology, floodplain restoration, and forested habitat recovery.
- Familiarity with federal, state, local, and tribal permitting and environmental compliance requirements (e.g. NEPA, SEPA, ESA, HPA, King County “Zero-Rise" Ordinance).
- Ability to manage complex projects involving interdisciplinary teams, multiple funders, and jurisdictional coordination.
- Strong skills in communication, public engagement, and cross-cultural collaboration.
- Proficiency in project management tools and GIS-based mapping and analysis.
- Commitment to Indigenous sovereignty, ecological restoration, and the revitalization of traditional lifeways.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, restoration ecology, forestry, hydrology, civil/environmental engineering, natural resources, or a related field; AND five (5) years of progressively responsible experience managing environmental restoration or land stewardship projects; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Education Preferred:
- Master’s or other advanced degree in environmental science, restoration ecology, forestry, hydrology, civil/environmental engineering, natural resources, or a related field.
Experience Required:
- Minimum of five years related work experience.
- Experience working with or for Tribal governments.
- Experience creating and implementing forest or land stewardship strategies.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Certification in Project Management (PMP), Forestry, River and Stream Restoration, Environmental Engineering, or Floodplain Management (CFM) is desirable.
- Must have and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license.
Other Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a thorough pre-employment background investigation.
- Must agree to be subject to the Tribe's Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing Policy to include pre-employment screening.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment includes an office environment in a controlled atmosphere building, and outside subject to all weather conditions. Hybrid work arrangements may be possible in accordance with the Tribe’s Telecommuting Policy.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Compensation will be determined based on experience and starts at $102,922.18 per year.Â
- This position is a full-time position and employment is at will. Â
