Job Summary

The position of the CCT RN is to operate in a high-quality critical care transport team, responding to emergency and non-emergency calls and delivering high quality patient care and customer service within the prescribed scope of practice, established protocols and company policies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responds to and assists with emergency and non-emergency transports requiring a nurse
  • Administers nursing skills under stressful and non-stressful situations in accordance with established protocols and within scope of practice
  • Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with patients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements
  • Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients, friends, and families
  • Independently assesses all patient populations, including (but not limited to) pediatric, obstetric, cardiac, trauma, neurological, geriatric, GI/GU, and is able to create and execute an appropriate care plan within specified protocols
  • Promotes patient awareness by establishing patient care goals, teaching the patient and family regarding the illness or disease process, and provides treatment while in the care of the transport team
  • Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments by collaborating with team members and multidisciplinary members; staying current with SCT guidelines and attending required in-services, training and staff meetings
  • Ensures continuity of services while adhering to all laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures as they pertain to the SCT and EMS Program
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and by benchmarking state-of-the-art practices.
  • Maintains a positive, professional and cooperative working relationship with other PRN providers, our partner hospitals as well as other specialty transport teams.
  • Communicates and collaborates with the Director of Clinical Programs, SCT Supervisor and/or the Medical Director on pertinent issues
  • Maintains thorough familiarity with treatment protocols, response requirements and quality assurance procedures in accordance with local EMS agency policy
  • Maintains awareness of any and all changes in the system components and company policies
  • Maintains the level and type of certification consistent with performing RN job responsibilities
  • Ensures that the unit remains in a state of readiness, including medical supplies, narcotics, and equipment
  • Assists with keeping the ambulance clean inside and out
  • Completes all appropriate medical documentation
  • Attends SCT team meetings
  • Maintains a cooperative working relationship with allied health and public safety personnel
  • Maintains a professional appearance by adhering to personal grooming and dress code standards
  • Reports all problems and unusual occurrences immediately to the Director of Clinical Programs, as well as complete the appropriate written report
  • Monitors performance of EMT partners, corrects errors as necessary, provides training and feedback
  • Demonstrates ability to solve unusual problems and give articulate direction under minimal supervision
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be currently licensed by the California Board of Registered Nurses with no violations or restrictions to practice
  • Two years of experience (within the last 18 months) providing care to a wide variety of patient populations in a critical care environment (ER or ICU) in a facility that treats high acuity patients with a wide range of diagnoses. Documentation and proof of work experience required

Must be currently certificated in:

  • BLS through American Heart Association
  • ACLS through American Heart Association
  • PALS through American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSN
  • CCRN, CEN, CTRN
  • NIHSS

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift 35 pounds in each hand to transport equipment from ambulance to location of patient
  • Ascend and descend stairways carrying 35 pounds in each hand to get to patient location to provide treatment
  • Lift (with assistance) a 75 to 150-pound oxygen cylinder into the ambulance
  • Conduct patient care tasks while stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Communicate verbally to patients, dispatchers, physicians, and coworkers in transmitting and gathering information
  • Hear information transmitted verbally by phone or radio
  • Adequate vision required to be able to read information from printed sources and computer screens, as well as color vision and fields of vision to perform job functions
  • Ability to administer patient care duties, as well as heavy computer usage

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $63.00 - $68.50 per hour for nurses who work a minimum of three shifts per week.
