Description

The Civil Laborer is responsible for assisting with various tasks related to building and maintaining infrastructure including site preparation, cleaning debris, setting up work areas, loading materials and equipment, operating hand tools under the direction of a foreman. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Installation of conduit.
  • Installation of concrete/fiberglass hand holes, vaults manholes.
  • Installation of street light pole foundations.
  • Street and sidewalk installation and restoration.
  • Ability to operate Mini Excavators, Skid Steers, Backhoes, Boom Trucks and Vac Trucks a plus.
  • Mixing and pouring concrete, asphalt or other materials.
  • Digging trenches and preparing foundation for construction.
  • Following safety regulation and wearing appropriate protective gear.
  • Performing general maintenance and cleanup up of job site.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Physical Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • CDL Class A Truck Driver a plus

  • Operator’s License

  • Good coordination skills

  • Organization skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and maintain a professional and positive demeanor

  • Graduation from High School.

  • OSHA 10 Certification preferred but not required.

  • First Aid/CPR Certification preferred but not required.

 

Position requires the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift body weight, PPE, equipment, tools and/or boxes. You must be able to safely perform the following types of activities daily as a part of your regular duty position.

 

  • Lift/Carry 0-100 lbs. depending upon role, height of lift 0-8’ depending upon role, distance of carry varies based upon position.
  • Pushing up to 75 lbs. occasionally up to 33% of the workday.
  • Pulling up to 75 lbs. frequently up to 60% of the workday. 
  • Climbing and balancing - constantly up to 90% of the workday.
  • Bending, squatting, reaching, fingering, feeling and repetition frequently up to 66% of the workday.
  • Twisting, crawling, kneeling – occasionally up to 33% of the workday.
  • Hand and foot motion – frequently up to 100% of the workday
  • Temperature tolerance; extreme heat and cold - occasionally
  • Vibration of power tools - occasionally
  • Noise- occasionally
