GENERAL SUMMARY
The EVS technician cleans and sanitizes wards, rooms, baths, restrooms, and offices; cleans, mops floor; dusts furniture and equipment; cleans window sills, empties trash baskets, and arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion; scours and polishes both sinks, mirrors, and similar equipment; replenishes supplies of soap and towels, polishes and cleans doors and windows; keeps utility storage rooms in order by sweeping and mopping floors; performs a variety of related duties.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The EVS technician is responsible for cleaning an assigned area as scheduled.
- The EVS technician will cross train for different work areas. (Patient and resident rooms, x-ray, surgery, outpatient, business offices, emergency department, etc.)
- Work performed:
- Selects cleaning materials and supplies and prepares solutions according to procedures. Loads service cart and transports to work areas.
- Cleans and sanitizes rooms, arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion. Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, nursing stations, lounges, and offices.
- Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas by washing furniture, tiles, fixtures, mirrors and equipment with germicidal cleaning solutions. Notifies supervisor of any equipment in need of repairs.
- Dry dusts and wet mops halls and stairwells.
- Replenishes supplies of hand soap, hand sanitizer, deodorizers in dispensers and paper products.
- Empties regular trash in wastebaskets and also empties and disposes of biohazardous waste in the prescribed manner.
- Changes sharps containers when full and disposes of these the in prescribed manner.
- Vacuums all carpeted areas. Also disinfects hand rails in hallways daily.
- Changes cubicle curtains on a regularly scheduled basis or as needed and notifies supervisor of window curtains that need cleaned or repaired.
- Cleans and sanitizes patient’s rooms after patient discharges according to Terminal Cleaning Procedures.
- Cleans and sanitizes operating suites daily using proscribed cleaning solutions and procedures.
- Cleans storage rooms weekly and utility rooms (clean and soiled) daily.
- Cleans and sanitizes beds in the ER that may become grossly soiled, when requested by ER staff. Otherwise, ER staff techs are responsible for cleaning and sanitizing beds on a monthly basis.
- Cleans floor fans, desk fans, and ceiling fans when needed.
- Cleaning procedure for elevators include: sanitizing handrails, doors, control panels, walls and floor.
- Cleans spider webs from overheadwindows in Annex area and other specified areas.
- Performs project cleaning of the following: cove bases, wastebaskets, high dusting and wall washing. Cleans door frames, vents outer surface only), windows and blinds. Cleans ceilings in specified areas.
- Documents in a monthly cleaning chart, the time each room/ area is cleaned and sanitized.
- Documents on a patients room discharge cleaning form, the times (beginning and ending) the terminal cleaning of a discharged patient room, also initials the chart.
