Position Summary

The Product Development (PD) Coordinator will report to the Director, Product Development and will possess both creative and analytical competencies, the ability to create and develop new product concepts, and will be responsible for supporting the development process from ideation to launch. This person will be required to maintain a high level of organization, demonstrate strong communication skills, thrive in high-paced environments, and have a passion for cosmetics. The PD Coordinator must have an aptitude to function within deadlines while working both independently and as a part of a team.


Essential Tasks, Duties, & Responsibilities

  • Initiate, track, and execute all stages of product development from initiation to completion of production for all new product launches and reformulations
  • Work closely and collaborate with cross-functional team members to see projects to fruition, including Marketing, R&D, Regulatory, QC, Sourcing, Planning, Operations, and Creative
  • Create and distribute comprehensive Product Development Briefs which include: launch concept, formula direction, shade direction, packaging direction, and target costs
  • Responsible for executing all formula approvals for aesthetics and desired attributes on time and within COGs
  • Maintain upkeep of product library, standards, and lab submissions
  • Collaborate with QC to review both new and existing products, verifying they meet quality standards and approved specifications before release
  • Work proactively with Packaging Engineer to drive technical packaging needs
  • Own the product specification process by working closely with the MDM team to set up items in the system, request item numbers and UPCs, and ensure finalized specs are accurate and submitted for approval
  • Coordinate samples for retailer meetings, photography, etc. and evaluate/organize 1st Production Finished goods
  • Manage packing, shipping, and tracking of development and production samples to the appropriate parties
  • Support the retail team and sales force by providing necessary documents/information on products
  • Track and review all product artwork
  • Communicate with China and Mexico office regarding assigned product development projects
  • Run reports utilizing IRI for product ranking and rationale
  • Conduct market research, track key trends and the competitive environment, and participate in brainstorming meetings for new product concepts
  • Purchase and evaluate competitive products, prepare written assessments, and participate in presenting data
  • Ability to travel domestically and abroad for product development purposes
  • Perform other assigned projects and functions as directed by department supervisor and management
  • Perform other duties as needed and directed by management

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Business Marketing or related field is required
  • 2+ years of cosmetics product development experience required

  • Great work ethic with a strong efficiency orientation: Must be organized, detail oriented, resourceful, and adept at prioritizing and juggling multiple projects at once to meet tight deadlines
