Role's Mission:

As the Music Ministry Youth Music Director, this person will work with the Minister of Music and Music Ministry Associate Department Director to plan, promote, implement, and oversee the logistical needs of the music ministry involving children and youth. This person will primarily serve through the following four roles: 

  • As the creative planner, this person will help to design an appropriate music ministry outlet for children ages 5- eighth grade. This person will help to set the scope and performance opportunities as well as selecting curriculum and repertoire.  

  • As an energetic promoter, this person will have an active role in energizing and promoting excellence in areas of the ministry through communication, recruitment of students and volunteers. 

  • This person will work alongside the Minister of Music and the Music Ministry Associate Department Director to implement the scope and material of the children and youth music programs. They will oversee the various directors and champion excellence in practice, rehearsals and performances as well as cultivating appropriate spiritual development. 

  • This person will oversee the logistical needs of the youth music ministry through communication with participants and volunteers, coordination with vital church support services, and manage the physical needs of the youth music ministry such as costumes, props, music, etc.

Role’s Reporting Relationship:

  • This position reports directly to the Associate Department Director. 

Position Type: 

  • Full-time, Exempt, Salaried 

Qualifications

Role’s Requirements

  • A Christian who supports and defends our church’s constitution and doctrinal statement in both public and private 
  • Available Sundays 

Character 

  • Must be a godly leader 
  • Must display Christ-like humility (Phil. 2) 

Calling 

  • Must be a champion in public and private of the church leadership and mission 
  • Must desire to utilize the musical arts for the purpose of spiritual ministry 

Competency 

  • Must demonstrate giftedness in Administration (office work) and Encouragement (exhortation of the believers) 

Chemistry 

  • Must be dependable, humble, flexible and a positive attitude 
  • Must be a team player both within the music ministry and other departments of the church 
  • Must be adaptable and able to receive direction – a joy to supervise 

Role’s Preferences: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in music (major or minor) is desirable. 
  • 2 to 3 years of experience as a musical participant in an evangelical youth music ministry 
  • 1 to 3 years of administrative experience serving on a music ministry staff 
  • Experience in choir directing
