SUMMARY
The Head Track & Field Coach is responsible for the coordination of the total Men's and Women's Track & Field programs of the College.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
-Attend coaches' meetings and clinics for professional growth.
-Attend other professional meetings as necessary.
-Provide a minimum of three hours in-service training for staff.
-Conduct staff meetings as necessary.
-Hold pre-season meeting with student-athletes to discuss philosophy of the program and inform them of responsibilities and regulations.
-Be familiar with and follow the policies of Highland Community College, the NJCAA, and the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
-Submit forms to athletic director as required by NJCAA, the Jayhawk Conference, and HCC regarding eligibility roster, players addresses, accident reports, etc.
-Report scores and statistics to KJCCC and press as required.
-Be responsible for all recruiting activities of the Men's and Women's Track & Field programs.
-Supervise student-athletes in the areas of academic achievement and assist in player placement.
-Assume responsibility for conduct and well-being of all team members.
-Remain until all participants have left facilities or designate a responsible person to remain.
-Teach sportsmanship and set an example of good moral and physical behavior.
-Work continually with the Athletic Director and other coaches to observe, evaluate and upgrade the total athletic program.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises one full-time employee in the Track & Field program. May also supervise student workers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and hiring in accordance with Human Resource procedures; training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employee; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
