SUMMARY

The Project Manager II is responsible for planning and overseeing multiple, concurrent automation projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget.  This role develops and manages project plans, designates project resources and prepares budgets, and monitors project status.  The Project Manager II identifies and troubleshoots issues and keeps stakeholders informed throughout the implementation of the project.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees all aspects of the project lifecycle:  planning, scope definition, design, execution, and delivery. Organizes and oversees the staffing of the project.
  • Ensures the engineering integrity of systems such that the contractual specifications are met with respect to system functionality, productivity, reliability, quality, and safety.
  • Maintains and regularly updates project schedule, open items list, and risk register.
  • Manages project budget and forecasting of costs.  Proactively identifies potential over-runs and develops mitigation plan to minimize negative impact to project.
  • Coordinates with engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing for material requisitions and equipment deliveries to meet project milestones. Monitors progress against milestones, budget guidelines, and other performance indicators.
  • Balances concurrent assignments as Project Manager, managing responsibilities such as developing bid packages, evaluating bids, processing POs, and monitoring vendors. Assists with the selection of vendors and manages all activities regarding external consultants and vendors.
  • Keeps management informed of on-going issues and potential concerns that may be escalated by the customer.
  • Maintains comprehensive and complete documentation of situations that can lead to claims against TGW.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent technical systems experience.

Experience:

Minimum of four (4) years of technical systems experience, preferably in material-handling industry.

Travel:

30-50% of travel as required.

Skills & Abilities

  • System-level working knowledge of Mechanical, PLC Controls, and Software Engineering
  • Experience with project management software (e.g. Microsoft Project)
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively across a variety of audiences.
  • Robust knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain stationary at a desk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to go to site frequently and move safely around industrial and/or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies up to 25 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to operate computers, tablets, phones, and other electronic devices.
  • Ability to communicate with others verbally and in writing, on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather in geographic region.

Other Requirements

This position may require work at TGW customer sites.  TGW’s customers may require background checks before accessing their sites.  Refusal to participate in a customer-required background check may result in a customer barring access and a subsequent reduction in work.
