Senior Controls Project Manager
Location: Grand Rapids Michigan (Travel Required 30–50%)

TGW Logistics Group is a leading global systems integrator of automated material handling solutions. We’re seeking a Senior Controls Project Manager to join our Controls team. In this role, you’ll lead medium to large-scale automation projects from kickoff through final delivery—overseeing scope, schedule, budget, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure project success.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Manage projects through the entire life cycle, including leading all phases of larger projects or full oversight of smaller ones.
  • Develop project plans with long- and short-term milestones and ensure timely delivery within scope.
  • Create RFQs and RFPs for Electrical Installation Contractors and Controls Engineering services.
  • Define project scope, establish budgets, and monitor costs—requesting additional funding when needed.
  • Partner with Program Managers and Engineers to plan and execute project deliverables.
  • Coordinate with Functional Project Managers to develop integrated department schedules and testing plans.
  • Manage vendor and supplier contracts, assigning tasks and tracking deliverables.
  • Represent the Controls function on the Change Control Board for project modifications.
  • Monitor project performance metrics to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Mentor Level I and II Project Managers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

What You’ll Bring

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering-related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of project management experience in industrial automation, material handling, or manufacturing environments, required.
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification, preferred.
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 30 certification within 6 months of hire, required.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of electrical, automation, and controls engineering.
  • Full life cycle project experience, from design through implementation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for internal and customer-facing stakeholders.
  • Strong organization and time management abilities to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with project management software (Visio, MS Project) and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Business development experience and client engagement skills are a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain stationary at a desk for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently travel to project sites and move safely through industrial or warehouse environments.
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies up to 25 lbs.
  • Regular use of computers, tablets, and phones.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and speech.
  • Tolerance for seasonal temperature fluctuations at job sites.
