Description

PURPOSE: Maintain and properly supervise transportation operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

General Tasks:

  • Assist Store Director and/or Store Manager. (as needed)
  • Provide staff (Drivers, Helpers and Customer Service) with safe working equipment at all times.
  • Follow all customer service guidelines as described in hand-out.
  • Ensures that trucks are routinely serviced as required from Penske.
  • Ensures that radio equipment is available and in working order.
  • Verify that team complies with state laws regarding Meal/ Break periods.
  • Ensure team follows all company policy and procedures including safety.
  • Oversees that drivers and helpers are in proper uniforms and that trucks are equipped with the necessary equipment (dollies, carts, ties, etc.)
  • Handles complaint calls regarding donors, drivers and helpers
  • Ensure drivers and dispatcher comply with the rules and use proper communication terminology.
  •  Responsible in making sure all incidents are reported immediately and proper documentation is completed within 24hrs.
  • Coach, develop and at times may need to administer corrective action.
  • Spot checks trucks.
  • Ensure payroll is completed.
  • Must assist customers at all times in a fast, fun and friendly way.
  • Is responsible for approval of vacation request.
  • Ensures team complies with monthly safety training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Staff Management

  • Model, set the tone, and guide staff in company culture; provide services in a friendly, honest, humble, direct, and kind manner; communicates company’s culture and objective to staff to ensure alignment.
  • Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of team.
  • Collaborate with other departments.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  •  3 years of experience working in transportation environment.
  • High school Diploma or GED

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL WORK DEMANDS:

  • Sit and work at a computer station for extended periods of time.
  • Stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
  • Lift and move up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
