Why This Role Matters

As a Housing Navigator, you will play a vital role in supporting shelter residents experiencing homelessness or housing instability in securing safe and stable housing while addressing barriers related to homelessness. You will work closely with the residents, case managers, outreach workers, and community agencies to assess needs, identify housing options, and coordinate services that lead to long-term housing stability. This role requires an empathetic, resourceful, and safety minded individual to deliver services within the Skid Row Community.

What You’ll Do

· Conduct intake assessments in concert with DMH case manager and develop individualized housing plans.

· Develop individualized housing stability plans and maintain ongoing follow-up to track progress.

· Assist clients with applications, housing search, documentation and transition to permanent or supportive housing.

· Build strong relationships with landlords, shelters, and housing providers to expand housing opportunities.

· Provide support to ensure housing retention. Such as providing education on tenant rights, housing readiness, budgeting and lease compliance.

· Maintain accurate documentation and comply with reporting requirements.

· Collaborate with internal teams and community partners to connect clients to supportive services.

· Maintain situational awareness when working in the Skid Row community, including following trauma-informed care principles and de-escalation strategies in interactions with residents.

Qualifications

What You Bring

· Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

· 2+ years of experience in social services, housing assistance, case management or community-based work.

· Strong understanding of housing systems, tenant rights, local resources, and Los Angeles Coordinated Entry Systems (CES).

Excellent communication, interpersonal, cultural competency and ability to work independently in the field and manage a caseload.

· Proficiency in documentation and client tracking systems.

Bonus Points For

· Bilingual in English and Spanish or other languages

· Experience working with vulnerable populations (e.g., veterans, youth, survivors of domestic violence)

· Knowledge of trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles
