Essential Functions & Duties

Position Summary 

The People Operations Coordinator provides support to all HR functions. Under direct supervision, this individual focuses on and maintains the administrative issues within the department, including but not limited to, record keeping, file maintenance, HRIS & payroll data entry, legislative compliance, and compliance audits. 

1. HR Administration & Compliance

  • Maintains all employee records (personnel files, I-9s, EEO, OSHA) and electronic document storage of policies and forms.
  • Coordinates HR compliance audits for the Home Office and Brewpubs.
  • Distributes legally required notices and supports policy updates.
  • Researches labor laws to support compliance in California.

2. Benefits & Leave Administration

  • Assists with administration of health benefits: enrollments, terminations, status changes, insurance billings.
  • Serves as COBRA Administrator and supports ACA monthly testing.
  • Assists with 401(k) eligibility and quarterly testing.
  • Tracks employee leaves of absence and wage garnishments.
  • Prepares annual Total Compensation Statements.

3. Payroll & HRIS Support

  • Performs bi-weekly payroll processing, data entry, and audits.
  • Processes final pay for terminations.
  • Assists with HRIS data management and reporting.

4. Workers’ Compensation & Safety

  • Assists with workers’ comp claims, reports, and communication with insurers.
  • Conducts safety audits and meetings to support OSHA/DOL compliance, and maintains safety program records.

5. Reporting & Analytics

  • Prepares monthly/annual reports (BLS, DOL, state of California, internal reports).
  • Generates HR-related reports and supports cost-benefit analyses for projects.

6. Onboarding & Employee Programs

  • Supports new hire onboarding.
  • Maintains the organizational chart monthly.
  • Assists with HR-related cultural, wellness, and beer education programs.

7. General Support

  • Responds to general HR inquiries and escalates when needed.
  • Provides admin support across all HR programs, projects, and initiatives.
  • Completes EDD paperwork (Unemployment, Disability, Paid Family Leave).

 

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • BA/BS degree preferred in Human Resources Management or a related field of study.  
  • 1-3 years applicable experience. 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.  
  • Proficiency with Paycom is preferred.  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.    
  • A consistently positive attitude.  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to company-established procedures.  
  • Detail oriented and highly organized.   
  • Work well in a collaborative environment with multiple departments and internal customers.  
  • Hybrid role: three days in-office required (Poway, CA).
