Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Food Services during times when Food Services Manager is absent, and encourage staff cooperation with Service and with other Hospital staff
  • When necessary, arrange for Service staff duty coverage or perform such duties
  • Using approved, standardized recipes, prepare assigned food for Hospital staff, patients and visitors according to Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point Principles; and assure that such food is ready at designated times and that temperature of such food is monitored, adjusted when appropriate, and documented as is required
  • Use patient census and production sheet data to estimate food preparation required for a designated meal time
  • For every designated meal time, use the electronic medical record to access patient census, patient diet census, room bed census for current diet orders, and change to patient diet orders
  • Process patient diet orders; confirm questionable orders with the Shift Supervisors; ensure accuracy of related information on meal tray identification cards, menus, and in the electronic medical record; and correct such information as is necessary
  • Prepare hot portions of patient meals in accord with patient age, dietary requirements, and cultural, religious and other preferences
  • Prepare patient meal tray contents, ensure accuracy of such contents, and document applicable corresponding data.
  • Cheerfully and helpfully serve standardized food portions to Hospital staff and visitors in the dining room during designated meal times, while correctly making change for cash purchases and operating the Hospital computerized meal card system and the Hospital point of sale system.
  • Oversee catered meals, including dining area preparation, food preparation, services required during such meals, and clean up required after such meals.
  • Stock nutrition centers as is needed
  • Stocking dining room as is needed

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Knowledge of principles that relate to the position
  • Ideally, previous experience in foodservice and management
  • Aptitude in verbal and written communication, including ability to communicate with persons in all age groups
  • Possession of a current valid Oregon food handler card, ServeSafe Food Handler certification, or ServeSafe Food Manager certification
  • Possession of United States proof of citizenship or right to work in the United States
  • Possession of a driver license or analogous identification
  • Willingness to participation in Hospital orientation and educational in-service
