Functions Specific to Role as Trauma Registrar
- Â Enter patient data into the Trauma Registry database according to the State of Oregon trauma registry guidelines.
- Â Abstract and code data for patients with traumatic injuries using ICD-10 codes and the Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS).
- Â Identify potential quality issues such as complications, infections, and other adverse events and enter this data into the process improvement section of the trauma registry.
- Â Evaluate and ensure compliance with Department policy and procedure, particularly policy and procedure related to trauma documentation.
- Â Participate in Department goals related to trauma patient care, and regularly assess progress toward reaching such goals.
- Â Attend meetings of the applicable Services Committees when needs arise.
- Maintain educational requirements for all required licensure and certification, and maintain a written record of educational and teaching experience.
- Â Attend meetings and continuing education programs to enhance knowledge of Trauma care regionally and locally.
- Â Complete within 3 months of hire, most recent version AIS coding course sponsored by American Association of Automotive Medicine (AAAM) and completion of American Trauma Society Trauma Registrar Course.
- Â Perform other duties assigned by TNC, ED manager or CNO.
