Position Description
The Respiratory Therapist will assist, treat & care for residents with breathing disorders. Assume primary responsibility for all respiratory modalities in accordance with current facility, federal, state and local standards, guidelines & regulations. Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide respiratory treatment to residents requiring some form of breathing therapy, exercise, and or administering therapeutic medication on a regular basis.
- Determine requirements for treatment, such as type, method & duration of therapy, precautions to be taken & medication dosages, in accordance with physician orders.
- Ensure quality respiratory services provided are in accordance with physician orders & facility policies.
- Make assessments and provide care to residents requiring mechanical ventilator support, i.e. making regular rounds on ventilator residents, monitoring conditions and conducting routine mechanical safety checks of the ventilators.
- Evaluate, operate and maintain various diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory equipment to include ABG, oximeter, and portable spirometer.
