Pay Transparency: $45 - $65/hour

Role and Responsibilities

The Yoga Instructor is responsible for helping guide students in yoga through a variety of postures, or asanas, and breathing exercises referred to as pranayama. Instructors provide hands-on direction to make sure students are performing movements properly and applying the breathing techniques. Yoga Instructor may work in a class or in a one-on-one setting. Group Fitness Instructors are expected to teach safe and effective classes for our members and are required to purpose and maintain educational standards commensurate with Active Wellness quality.

Specific Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Deliver safe group fitness classes to the participants
  • Assist members in using safe and effective exercise form during their Workouts
  • Support, teach, and encourage members to meet their fitness goals
  • Administer emergency care to members and guests in need of assistance
  • Work as a TEAM with all other departments
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Other Functions

  • Be knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by Active Wellness
  • Promote program services and activities
  • Assist with keeping the classroom orderly and clean
  • Attend Active Wellness site meetings and trainings
  • Handle injury and illness and security incident reporting

Qualifications

Qualifications for Yoga/Meditation Instructor

1. Certification Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 200-hour yoga teacher training certification.
  • Specialized training or certification in meditation techniques/ sound bath meditation techniques preferred.

2. Experience:

  • At least 2 years of teaching experience in yoga and/or meditation 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse class settings; intimate class settings, special events, small group sessions.

3. Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient in various yoga styles (e.g., Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative, etc.).
  • In-depth understanding of meditation techniques and mindfulness practices.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to effectively guide participants of all levels.
  • Ability to create a supportive and inclusive environment.

4. Interpersonal Skills:

  • Friendly, approachable and professional demeanor.
  • Strong commitment to client well-being and fitness goals.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of different clients or groups

5. Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to demonstrate yoga postures and meditation techniques safely and effectively. 
  • Physically capable of leading classes for extended periods. 

6. Additional Requirements:

  • Current CPR and Basic First Aid certification
  • Familiarity with basic health and wellness concepts to guide participants responsibly.
