Position Summary

The role of the HR Benefits Coordinator reports to the Human Resources Manager. This position administers employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and other compensation related offerings. This role involves ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, managing benefits enrollment and changes, and providing support to employees regarding their benefits options.

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Administer comprehensive employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefit offerings approved by the Benefits Committee and HR leadership.
  • Coordinate the enrollment process for new hires, life events (e.g., marriages, births), and open enrollment periods. Ensure eligibility requirements are met.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local benefits regulations (e.g. ACA, HIPAA, ERISA).
  • Provide timely and accurate support for employees regarding benefit options, coverage details, claims, and plan changes.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee benefits documentation to support compliance audits.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of employee benefits, ensuring effective program management, compliance, and employee support.
  • Conduct benefits orientations and informational sessions to enhance employee understanding and engagement.
  • Assist in preparing data for the Benefits Committee as assigned.
  • Promote positive team-centric environment.
  • Maintain a standard to be the best place to receive care and the best place to give care.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. Bachelor’s degree in related field, preferred.
  • Licensure and Certifications: Active driver’s license and auto insurance.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years within human resources fields and/or benefits administration required.

Professional Skills 

  • Strong understanding of employee benefits health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits, including compliance with relevant laws (e.g. ERISA, ACA, COBRA)
  • Familiarity with labor laws, wage and hour regulations, and compliance requirements (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FLSA).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficient in human resources software and data management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment: This position will spend a majority of time working in a standard office environment where 80% of time is sitting or standing, performing office/clerical work and 20% of time walking. This position may lift up to 50 lbs.
