Description

The Worship Director provides strategic and pastoral leadership for all worship services and church-wide experiences across Christ’s Church Ministries. This role exists to cultivate meaningful, Spirit-led worship experiences by overseeing all elements of Sunday worship, including musical direction, production integration, and creative planning. In collaboration with the Experience Pastor and Technical Associate Director, the Worship Director is responsible for the planning and execution of worship and production for all regular services and campus-wide events, including Christ’s Church Academy [CCA]. This role ensures unified, high-quality experiences that reflect the mission and values of Christ’s Church.

  • Team Leadership & Collaboration: 

  • Promote and cultivate a Jesus-centered discipleship culture across all worship teams. 

  • Lead and disciple band members, vocalists, worship contractors, and volunteers. 

  • Function as Lead Music Director for team members, modeling best practices in rehearsal, leadership, and communication. 

  • Provide pastoral care by addressing the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of the team. 

  • Collaborate with the Experience Pastor to ensure strategic alignment with Sunday worship and special services and partner on song selection and musical direction.  

  • Collaborate with the Technical Associate Director to ensure distraction-free, technically excellent worship environments. 

  • Lead and develop Creative and Worship Planning Teams to maintain alignment and creativity in service programming.  

  • Support Mandarin Campus and Student Ministry Worship Teams as needed. 

  • Contribute to staff culture through regular participation in meetings and planning sessions. 

  • Facilitate Discipleship Pathways: Serve as a bridge to ministry involvement, helping people take intentional next steps in their spiritual journey by engaging in service. 

  • Manage Relationships: Establish and maintain all necessary vendor and business partner relationships. 

PRIORITIES 

  • Worship Experience and Event Leadership: 

  • Provide overall leadership for the planning and execution of all Sunday worship services.  

  • Lead song selection, arrangement, and transitions to create cohesive and spiritually engaging services. 

  • Ensure rehearsal readiness through the creation of music tracks, practice mixes, and arrangement planning. 

  • Oversee the planning and execution of Monday Night Worship services. 

  • Lead planning and execution of all campus-wide events, ensuring cohesive worship, production, and creative alignment. 

  • Creative Integration and Execution:  

  • Coordinate with Experience and Production teams to manage media, set design, and technical elements. 

  • Provide the musical and production support for outside events, special functions, and CCA event productions. 

  • Communicate with Campus Worship Pastors to align Planning Center materials and worship flow across locations. 

  • Team Development & Discipleship 

  • Recruit, audition, equip, and disciple vocalists and band volunteers for both spiritual growth and musical excellence. 

  • Provide ongoing evaluation and coaching to promote individual and group development. 

  • Lead weekly rehearsals and prepare teams for all regular and special worship services and events. 

  • Logistics & Coordination 

  • Manage Planning Center scheduling for all team musicians, vocalists, contractors, and worship events. 

  • Maintain and update chord charts, mp3s, lead sheets, and all relevant service assets. 

  • Maintain and supervise the weekly service flow for each campus and the worship team’s event calendar. 

  • Proactively engage in All-Staff activities: Participate in required staff gatherings and provide team support. 

PROCESS & SYSTEMS: 

  • Planning & Scheduling Tools: Use Planning Center to coordinate schedules, share resources, and ensure alignment across campuses. Oversee and maintain documentation and templates for weekly service planning. 

  • Media & Production Integration: Utilize playback and multi-track platforms such as Ableton for track creation and worship experience enhancement. Support the integration of worship elements with broader media and production teams. Participate in set design planning and execution in collaboration with Creative and Technical leaders. 

  • Evaluate and Improve Experiences: Regularly assess worship experiences and events to identify opportunities for improvement and increased impact. 

  • Observe Guidelines: Follow all established contractor and volunteer assimilation best practices and guidelines. 

  • Administration: Utilize Paycom, Rock, Planning Center, and the Office 365 suite of products, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, etc. 

  • Provide Metrics and Reporting: Complete all required dashboard reporting in a timely fashion 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS  

  • Practice a strict policy of confidentiality when dealing with church member information. 

  • Office environment with occasional remote support and off-site meetings with volunteers. 

  • May require physical activity such as lifting and transporting items up to 25 lbs. 

  • Occasional off-hours or weekend work may be required to support projects and events. 

  • Occasional travel to other locations or event venues may be required.

The Worship Director exists to lead the musical, creative, and technical teams of Christ’s Church in crafting unified, Spirit-led worship experiences that glorify God and support the mission and vision of Christ’s Church by drawing people into deeper discipleship with Jesus.
