The role of the Throws coach is the implementation of program-wide goals and objectives through positive coaching on and off the track.  The position is responsible for teaching and strengthening athletes’ fundamental knowledge of the sport while also introducing advanced concepts. All coaches are responsible for creating and nurturing a physically and emotionally safe environment for their athletes. 

 

In addition, the Throws coach will be responsible for character development and providing direction to student-athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork in Track & Field. The person in this role is required to interact thoughtfully and respectfully with student-athletes, fellow coaches, staff, parents, and the community, as well as follow the mission of the school.  As Track and Field is a joint program for De La Salle and Carondelet High Schools, this position will coach student-athletes from both schools.
 

Qualifications

A high level of playing and/or coaching experience is desired.

 

All coaches are required to get fingerprint clearance from the DOJ, as well as TB clearance, before starting coaching. They have 30 days to complete all required certifications, including, but not limited to, CPR/First Aid certification, CIF - Fundamentals of Coaching Certification, Concussion Training, and Anti-Harassment Training.
 

 Job Type: Seasonal Part-Time
Pay: $2,750 for the Spring season
