Position Summary: 

The Listening Ear Activities (LEA) and Weekend Rec Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and providing direct services for activities designed to meet consumers interests and engage consumers in the communities where they reside.

 

Reporting and Supervision

The LEA and Weekend Rec Director reports to the Residential Director for In Home Help and indirectly to the Director of Residential Services.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides support, guidance, and ensures all In Home Help staff are enrolled in CHAMPS

Listening Ear Activities (LEA):

  • Oversees activities are being conducted per agreement within the PCP perimeters   honoring consumer choice and the role of the program.
  • Works with CMH and notify staff of authorizations for individuals enrolled in the program.
  • Supervises employees of the program to assure they are fulfilling their duties.
  • Arranges activities, transportation, signing up individuals, filling out progress notes, completing intake paperwork, etc.
  • Provides direct support for all planned activities to ensure that events are executed effectively.
  • Assures all paperwork/progress notes, timesheets, etc. are filled out after each activity by responsible staff.
  • Assures all paperwork/progress notes are uploaded to CIGMMO within deadlines by CMH and sent to billing dept. of Listening Ear.
  • Ensures staff are following Listening Ear policies and procedures.

Weekend Rec:

  • Oversees activities are being conducted in a manner that honors consumer choice consistent with the role of the program.
  • Arranges and implements activities, to include signing up individuals, making purchases that are within budget perimeters with receipts for purchases, assuring individuals are safe, etc.
  • Ensures staff are following Listening Ear policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must possess or acquire a working knowledge of laws, regulations, and methodologies relevant to working with varying degrees of mentally disabled and cognitively impaired adults including, but not limited to:

  • Recipient Rights
  • Agency Ethics and the Consumer Bill of Rights
  • Person Centered Plans
  • CPR
  • First Aid
  • Safety and fire prevention
  • Nutrition
  • Prevention of communicable diseases
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations in a controlled manner
  • Work with professionalism, including empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Must be registered in CHAMPS

Must demonstrate leadership skills in communicating directions and evaluating staff performance.

Education and Experience

Required: High School Diploma, GED, or be functionally equivalent in reading and writing in English, and basic math.  Must be at least 18 years of age at the time employment begins.

 

Preferred: Prior experience in a direct support capacity with a licensed care facility.

 

Schedule, Travel Expectations, Working Conditions

This position requires regular travel, often including transporting consumers.

This position regularly requires work activities during evening hours and/or on weekends.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Over an 8-hour period: Prolonged standing, regular or intermittent lifting and reaching above shoulders, pulling and pushing, bending at waist, twisting torso, kneeling, walking.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and place up to 50#.

Must pass, physical, TB test, and all applicable background tests.
