Director of Professional Services

We are seeking an experienced, visionary Director of Professional Services to lead and scale our growing IT project delivery organization. This role is ideal for a dynamic leader with deep experience in IT project and service delivery, especially within the Managed Services Provider (MSP) space. You will drive strategic planning, operational excellence, and scalable growth across our professional services division—enabling high-impact client solutions across regional and national markets.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Strategic Leadership & Growth

  • Define and execute the long-term strategic vision for the Professional Services organization aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Build and scale a high-performance, multi-regional project delivery team capable of executing on complex, multi-site IT initiatives.
  • Lead organizational change initiatives and promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence.
  • Expand service delivery capabilities and methodologies to support national scale and geographic expansion.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee delivery of all IT infrastructure and cloud projects, ensuring client success, resource optimization, and profitability across the portfolio.
  • Develop and implement scalable delivery frameworks, tools, and automation strategies that improve project throughput, visibility, and quality.
  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), best practices, and continuous improvement processes for the department.

Team Development

  • Recruit, develop, and retain top-tier project managers, engineers, and support staff across multiple regions.
  • Create a leadership bench and succession planning framework to support long-term growth.
  • Foster a high-trust, team-first culture where performance, growth, and collaboration thrive.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with executive leadership, sales, client strategy, operations, and finance to align service delivery with company-wide objectives.
  • Serve as a key contributor in pre-sales efforts, solution design, and resource planning for strategic clients and large-scale opportunities.
  • Act as an department sponsor for major initiatives and strategic client engagements.

Performance Management

  • Define and manage KPIs and dashboards to monitor project performance, client satisfaction, profitability, and resource utilization.
  • Identify and mitigate delivery risks while proactively managing project escalations and client expectations.
  • Lead quarterly business reviews and reporting to executive stakeholders on progress, goals, and improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; MBA or relevant graduate degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of IT project and service delivery experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • 3+ years in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success scaling a project or services organization regionally or nationally.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience overseeing a portfolio of 30+ concurrent projects of varying size and complexity.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification highly desirable.

  • Strong financial acumen and experience with departmental budgeting, P&L responsibility, and forecasting.
