What You’ll Be Doing
Â
As a Registered Nurse (RN) at the Acute Treatment Unit (ATU) you would be providing direct care to patients experiencing emotional crisis and serious psychiatric issues in an environment that is a less restrictive alternative to hospitalization. You would be conducting assessments, evaluating and managing medications, setting priorities for care, and leading your shift. You’d also have the distinct opportunity to work closely with a multidisciplinary team of Health Solutions professionals to serve individuals and groups. Specifically, the ATU RN

- Prepares and dispenses prescribed medications;
- Ensures that all medications are securely maintained;
- Maintains therapeutic milieu;
- Conducts nursing assessments;
- Provides therapeutic sessions as needed;
- Keeps accurate records with 100% compliance with our standards;
- Maintains competency and proficiency with the electronic health record and electronic prescribing;
- Organizes and maintains medication records;
- Calls in prescriptions and follows-up on refills;
- Orders lab work and reviews as needed for immediate attention on the doctor's behalf;
- Consults and works closely with treating medical professionals;
- Leads the shift and assigns tasks to co-workers to insure the smooth operation of the shift;
- Participates in the on call schedule with an assigned minimum number of shifts per month; and
- Performs other duties as assigned by the program director within the scope of the position.
- Physical requirements include the following:
- Frequently stays stationary for prolonged periods of time.
- Frequently moves within and between facilities.
- Frequently exposed to stressful or emergent situations.
- Frequently operates a computer and other office equipment to record health data.
- Constantly communicates with clients and others.
- Occasionally moves equipment and/or materials up to 50 pounds.
- Occasional exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids
