As a shipping coordinator you will be responsible for import and export logistics, the execution of shipping services and compliance documentation activities required for in/out-bound shipping activities. Creating BOL (Bills of Lading), as well as confirming receipt of goods purchase orders. Scheduling pick-ups and deliveries and ensuring that each has associated proper documentation. You also perform inventory control and track a shipment's delivery status.  This position reports to team leads and Shipping & Receiving Manager.  This role communicates across all departments and will be expected to act and use judgement accordingly.

Qualifications

  1. Prepare and process Bills of Lading and other shipping documents
  2. Obtain quotes, negotiate rates and schedule shipments with various carriers
  3. Verify all incoming/outgoing shipments to be accurate by comparing the shipping documents, export documents, invoice and all necessary paperwork to ensure all goods are in acceptable condition.
  4. Prepare detailed and accurate documentation to accompany shipments and ensure all items are packaged and shipped to as requested and in compliance with company standards.
  5. Identify, resolve and inform appropriate parties of shipping delays
  6. Follow all DOT, IATA and IMO regulators for Hazardous Material Transport
  7. Communicate with internal teams, customer and carriers to resolve issues and provide updates on tracking. Other duties as required.

Education & Experience:

  • 3-5 Years of Experience in Logistics, Transportation, Warehousing, Bill of Lading
  • Experience with Chemical Industry a plus

Skills and/ or Physical Requirements: 

 

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work with trucking companies and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and communicate with appropriate parties.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with diverse work groups, including customers and internal Berjé employees.
  • Positive and professional manner with a strong focus on detail, accuracy, and accountability.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, particularly with the Windows operating system.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing English.
