Description

The Materials Manager oversees the company’s inventory, cycle count program and physical inventory in collaboration with Production, Manufacturing, Purchasing/ Planning, Quality, QE, Engineers, and Senior Leadership to determine the materials needed to support manufacturing in accordance with product specifications. Owns the inventory of those materials once they arrive, owns the receiving procedures for the company’s warehouse. The Materials Manager is responsible for Hiring, Training, Coaching, Mentoring Employees and developing a succession plan, bench strength for the MM department.

The Materials Manager is under the direct supervision of the COO.

  • Develop and implement Inventory Control procedures. Verify results of physical cycle counts, review trends and coordinate with all involved departments the plan to maintain and support a greater than >98% level of inventory accuracy.
  • Supervise, evaluate, coach, mentor and teach staff members to improve their skill set and department.
  • Owns the overall monthly Cycle Count Program and conduct daily cycle counts, adjusts as necessary to ensure inventory accuracy while managing daily posts as conducted.
  • Conduct weekly Receipt Lot Auditing to determine if purchase orders need to be closed short or purchasing notified of material / purchase order discrepancies.
  • Audits of Part Setup for any Part Lot Configuration discrepancies and works with Manufacturing Engineers to correct any Lot Configurations set up incorrectly.
  • Interface with production to maintain proper material flow to prevent disruptions in the production build schedule.
  • Monitor Daily Shipments, coordinates driver pickups in coordination with production requirements.
  • Control, through ERP, all inventories, oversee the travelers/ issues/ inventory movements and purchases on subcontractors being performed accordingly.
  • As needed, provide support to new product programs to achieve objective in cost, performance, quality, specifications.
  • Oversee that Shipping requirements are met depending on customer or contract requirements.
  • Champion Physical Inventory efforts when needed.
  • Support the maintenance/compliance of all procedures for ISO 9000/AS9100 and create or coordinate creation of procedures pertaining to the department, as needed.
  • Duties include training operations staff, tracking the flow of inventory through the company’s supply chain.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years experience in directly leading/supervising people
  • Must be able to work with little direction or supervision, be self motivated
  • Previously held a lead role in a manufacturing environment
  • Purchasing/ Supply Chain experience is a plus.
  • Knowledgeable in good inventory techniques. Ability to implement and maintain system changes.
  • Proficient in PC applications such as Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • EPICOR Inventory system knowledge is desired
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills
  • Effective communication and Leadership skills

  • Advanced degree in business, supply chain or logistics
  • LEAN Certification
