We are seeking a Unit Manager to oversee our 20-resident Memory Enhancement floor, where each resident enjoys a private room and a peaceful, low-acuity environment. Responsibilities:
•  Work with the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to determine staffing levels per shift on each unit (floor). Confirm staffing is in place, assign, and direct staff as needed, and work closely with the Scheduler to address absences and vacancies, minimizing overtime.Â
•  Shift oversight and communication: Serve as the administrative authority during assigned shifts, communicating any urgent concerns to the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), Director of Nursing (DON), or Nursing Home Administrator (NHA). For non-urgent matters, notify the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) by phone or email.
•  Receive and address staff grievances, counsel personnel as needed, document actions, and communicate with the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON). Ensure timely updates to employee records, including disciplinary actions, in accordance with policies and laws.
•  Maintain accurate, confidential employee files, providing timely updates and compliance with HR policies. This includes documentation of disciplinary actions and safeguarding sensitive information.
•  Review and approve timecards for direct reports, confirming accuracy and addressing any discrepancies.
•  Assist with state survey compliance, quality assurance initiatives, and staff development. Notify the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) and Staff Development Coordinator of identified learning needs.
•  Conduct audits of resident documentation, including new admissions, re-admissions, and skin assessments, ensuring accuracy and completion.
•  Coordinate care for residents/clients on assigned unit (floor), addressing any changes in condition, incidents, or accidents. Maintain a list of resident problems requiring physician orders or follow-up by the next shift.
•  Review and update physician orders, nurses' notes, and resident assessments as conditions change. Assist with writing and updating care plans.
•  Supervise the serving of diets and ensure proper fluid intake for residents.
•  Assist the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) in completing risk assessments and investigating injuries, documenting findings as needed.
•  Identify and report supply and equipment needs for the unit (floor).
•  Conduct weekly audits of controlled substances in the emergency box to ensure compliance with regulations.
