Job Description

Position Summary: The Program Supervisor/Social Worker plays a crucial role in the efficient functioning and quality care of our Community Residence Programs. This position demands a highly dedicated and flexible individual capable of multitasking and handling various responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation and compliance of the program with regulatory standards.

Essential Accountabilities

 

  1. Crisis Management and Counseling: Provide 24/7 crisis support to staff, including counseling youth and families during emergencies. Report and seek guidance for significant issues from the Director.
  2. Staff Training and Compliance: Assist in staff training and ongoing supervision ensuring adherence to OMH and OSHA regulations, and guide staff in effective counseling techniques.
  3. Admission Process and Youth Counseling: Support the Program Director in the admission process, attend community meetings, and review referral packets. Counsel youth and families during admission to ease transitions.
  4. Supervision and Reporting: Participate in regular supervision with the Program Director, assist with Medicaid billing, and provide updates on counseling progress.
  5. Financial Assistance and Applications: Complete Medicaid and SSI applications, and maintain knowledge of waiting lists and referral logs.
  6. Budget Management: Aid in adhering to the program's budget and financial planning.
  7. Youth and Family Engagement: Coordinate school registrations and CSE meetings. Counsel youth and families in forming and implementing discharge plans.
  8. Educational and Healthcare Coordination: Maintain regular contact with educational and mental health professionals. Set up youth files and ensure consistent therapy attendance, providing counseling support as needed.
  9. Service Plan Development and Counseling: Collaborate with families, service providers, and staff to develop and implement Service Plan goals, offering counseling to address specific needs.
  10. Group Programs and Family Meetings: Develop and facilitate psychoeducational group programs and quarterly family team meetings, including family counseling sessions.
  11. Documentation and Transportation: Document all meetings and counseling sessions, and provide transportation for youth when necessary.
  12. Quality Improvement and Direct Care: Engage in Quality Improvement plan development, provide direct care and counseling as required, and attend relevant workshops and training sessions.
  13. Administrative Duties: Manage accurate time tracking, submission of mileage logs, and insurance policy updates, along with other assigned duties.

Job Qualifications

  • Must meet OMH standard for a Qualified Mental Health Staff (QMHS) consisting of a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a human services field (e.g., social work, psychology, psychiatric nursing, occupational therapy, counseling, rehabilitation counseling, or community mental health). Masters level and licensed staff preferred.
  • Experience in youth counseling and family therapy within a community residence or similar setting.
  • Strong crisis management, counseling, and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards (OMH, OSHA) and proficiency in financial assistance applications.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills for effective liaison with educational and healthcare professionals.
  • Flexibility in working hours.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and training compliance.
  • Clean and valid NYS Driver’s license.
