Job Summary: MidAmerica Nazarene University, located in Olathe, Kansas, invites qualified candidates to apply for an Ajunct Professor to teach our “Engaging with Science” course. This course offers a unique and unified study of the structure and function of God’s created order, encouraging students to creatively, critically, and collaboratively explore scientific concepts within a faith-based framework. This course is being offered as an in-person, on-ground course. The instructor must be willing to travel to MNU.

The ideal candidate will foster an engaging learning environment where students can delve into fundamental scientific questions, including the origins of the universe, the essentials for sustaining life, and potential future scientific advancements, all while considering a Christ-centered perspective.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging lectures and activities that align with the course description and learning objectives.
  • Facilitate discussions that encourage critical thinking and respectful dialogue on complex scientific topics.
  • Assess student learning through various methods, including assignments, quizzes, and exams.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
  • Maintain a current understanding of relevant scientific advancements and their relationship to a Christian world view.
  • Be available to students through email for questions and concerns.

Qualifications

Education Qualifications/Skills Required:

A successful applicant will share the university’s mission of Christ centered transformation, a commitment to excellence and innovation, and possess the following:

  • Masters degree or higher in a relevant scientific field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Health Science, Nursing, Other Allied Health)
  • Bachelor’s degree with significant related experience in Science or Healthcare
  • Excellence in teaching and student supervision
  • Excellent communication skills and timeliness
  • Prior teaching experience
  • Capability and desire to mentor and guide undergraduate students
  • A record of successful experience in higher education and/or other educational environments, including mentoring students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, both within the department, and across the institution.
  • Desire and ability to teach through experiential learning activities

 

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed in the classroom and laboratory setting.
