A retail Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in providing medications and customer service. This position is key to ensuring efficient operation within the retail pharmacy while providing excellent customer service and support to the pharmacist.
 Job Responsibilities:
- Customer Interaction: Greet customers, receive prescription orders, and answer questions related to medications, refills, and over-the-counter products.
- Prescription Processing: Accurately input and process prescriptions, ensuring all information is correct and up-to-date. Verify patient details, medication dosage, and instructions.
- Medication Preparation: Assist the pharmacist in measuring, packaging, and labeling prescriptions for patients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with safety protocols.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and check for expired medications. Assist with receiving and storing pharmaceutical inventory.
- Billing & Insurance: Process insurance claims, resolve payment issues, and handle customer co-pays. Ensure proper communication with insurance companies for pre-authorizations and coverage details.
- Customer Education: Inform customers about the availability of generic options, prescription refills, and any necessary instructions on medication use or potential side effects (under pharmacist supervision).
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to state and federal laws, including HIPAA privacy regulations and pharmacy-specific laws.
- Assist in Managing Workflow: Support pharmacists by organizing prescriptions, keeping the workspace tidy, and handling phone inquiries.
- OTC Product Sales: Assist customers with over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and other health-related products, offering guidance based on customer needs.
