Summary

FIRST RF is seeking a knowledgeable and driven Windows System Administrator to join our team. In this role, you will manage and optimize Windows-based servers and infrastructure while providing hands-on support for desktops, user-end devices, and core IT systems. This is an opportunity to play a key role in keeping our technology environment stable, efficient, and secure.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the IT environment - servers, workstations, and services - meet operational and security needs
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows operating systems (Windows 10, Windows 11, 2016, 2019, 2022)
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in accordance with IT policies
  • Apply patches and updates to applications, servers, and workstations to maintain security and compliance
  • Manage and support endpoint protection, antivirus, and other security configurations
  • Support and maintain clustered virtualization environments in Hyper-V
  • Implement and maintain endpoint management solutions (e.g., Intune, PDQ, or equivalent)
  • Support users and engineering teams by provisioning and troubleshooting Windows-based systems, developer tools, and networked resources
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts (PowerShell or equivalent) to streamline administrative tasks
  • Participate in system capacity planning and infrastructure upgrades
  • Maintain thorough documentation of system configurations, procedures, and policies

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week. Typical office hours include Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm; however, these hours may vary based on workload and the manager’s discretion.

 

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and be at a computer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Qualifications

​​​​​​Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • About 10 years of experience in Information Technology and Windows system administration
  • Strong expertise in the following:
    • Windows administration
    • Active Directory and Group Policy management
    • PowerShell scripting and automation
    • Virtualization technologies
    • Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP)
    • Security hardening and compliance best practices
    • Software development
    • Patch management
    • Endpoint security tools
  • Experience supporting technical teams with specialized tools and requirements

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Security+ Certification
  • Microsoft certifications
  • Experience with cloud services (Microsoft Azure, Office 365)
  • Familiarity with DevOps concepts and tools
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools
  • Basic administration and troubleshooting of Linux systems
  • Experience working within environments governed by NIST SP 800-171 or CMMC
  • Exposure to environments supporting hardware and embedded systems development
