GENERAL SUMMARY:

Roland Park Country School, a K-12 independent girls’ school, seeks a Part Time and/or Substitute Extended Day Program Assistant to begin December 1, 2025. The individual in this position reports directly to the Director and Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs and will work in collaboration and partnership with the  Auxiliary Programs department, which coordinates the after school programs for the school. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Supervise lower school and middle school students during activities and ensure their safety at all times, while creating and maintaining an educational, nurturing and fun environment. 
  • Facilitate transitions between activities and maintain order in group settings. 
  • Supervise and assist students with daily homework and study materials.
  • Provide individualized attention and support to students as needed.
  • Foster a fun, positive, and inclusive environment where all students feel safe, valued, nurtured and supported
  • Collaborate with the Director of Auxiliary Programs to plan activities and implement program policies and procedures.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as attendance tracking, snack distribution, and maintaining program supplies.
  • Assist in maintaining clean and organized program areas.  

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES: 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and team members regarding program activities and/or student needs. 
  • Ability to delegate tasks and responsibilities in a childcare setting
  • Ability to create and implement school-age activities
  • Ability to appropriately supervise up to 15 children independently 

COMPENSATION DISCLOSURE: In accordance with Maryland's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, we are committed to providing transparent wage information for all posted job opportunities. The compensation range for this position is $17-18 per hour. Compensation is determined based on factors such as Experience, Qualifications, and Internal equity.

Qualifications

 REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Childcare School Age Teacher Certification REQUIRED, or approved as a teacher or educational director for kindergarten or grades 1-8, or hold a teaching certificate from MSDE or any other state for kindergarten or grades 1-8, or Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, or child development. 
  • High school diploma, certificate of high school equivalency, or successful completion of college courses for credit
  • More than 3 years of experience working with children in a childcare setting

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Remain in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for extended periods of time. 
  • Repeat motion of wrists, hands, and fingers to operate standard office equipment, such as a computer and phone. 
  • Requires visual acuity to read a variety of written materials. 
  • Physical agility: stand, kneel, walk, run, push/pull, squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, reach overhead, crouch, and respond to emergencies. 
  • Must be able to move around and access all parts of the campus upon request, which includes gym, turf, fields, dining hall, etc. 
  • Occasionally ascend and descend stairs in emergency situations. 
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs unassisted

 

WORK CONDITIONS

  • The Extended Day Program Assistant is a part-time, non-exempt 10 month position. 
  • The individual in this position is expected to work on the days school is open typically Monday - Friday 2:30 p.m.- 6:15 p.m. Additional hours may be available on days when school is closed for students but open for employees and childcare is offered. Substitute position would be on call within these same work hours.
  • The Extended Day Program Assistant is expected to perform their job duties on campus, unless otherwise permitted by the Head of School.
