Description

SUMMARY: While a job description may not fully encompass every detail of a position, the purpose of the following is to provide an outline of goals, responsibilities, ability and knowledge required in order to successfully perform this job. The Finishing Operator runs yarn through Gilbo Air Entanglement, Twisting or Suessen Heatset machines so that it is reprocessed.

OVERALL GOALS

  • Maintain a high level of efficiency and quality.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all procedures applicable to the machine(s) being operated
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Work as a team to build solid working relationships.
  • Follow all safety rules for department and entire facility.
  • Be aware of Aquafil's Recycling Guidelines and Environmental Management Systems Policy (see supervisor if further explanation is needed).
  • General housekeeping as needed.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

GILBO AIR ENTANGLEMENT

  • Pick up packages of yarn from as low as floor level and place on creel package – approximately 12 lbs ea, 260/shift.
  • Take finished packages off Doff tray to place on buggy - packages weigh from 1 lb - 10 lb ea.
  • Push finished buggy to Gilbo inspection area - weight up to 600 lbs.
  • Bending to creel, as well as rethread machine. Placing packages at shoulder height on creel and buggy.
  • Use of tools including ring knife or snips.

CABLE TWISTING

  • Pick up packages of yarn from as low as floor level and place on buggy up to shoulder height - approximately 12 lbs ea, 180/shift.
  • Push buggy to cable twister - weighs approximately 360 lbs.
  • Place 1 package at a time in bucket that is slightly below waist level and start the Doff cycle by pushing the finished package onto the Doff conveyor.
  • Take twisted yarn off the Doff conveyor and place in a plastic box at the end of the Twister.
  • Bending to repair broken ends.

SUESSEN HEATSET

  • Pick up packages of yarn from as low as floor level – approximately 12-15 lbs ea, 267/shift.
  • Place packages on creel posts that are from 20 inches from floor to about shoulder height.
  • Thread machine into Heatset box, then thread into take-up winder on rear of machine.
  • Take finished packages (up to 10 lb ea) off Doff conveyor and place onto buggy, holding up to 60 packages.
  • Push buggy to the Heatset inspection area, up to 600 lbs.
  • Bending to service the bottom levels on the winders to rethread and fix miss-Doffs.
  • Walk on platform in narrow space between the winders.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITY

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, safety rules and instructions which are posted in English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Operators, Crew Leaders, Supervisors and Managers.
