The LVN or CMA is an integral member of the CityDoc Urgent Care clinical team, supporting the delivery of high-quality, acute medical care in a fast-paced urgent care setting. The position emphasizes patient health maintenance, effective team collaboration, and excellent patient service. This role interacts closely with clinical providers, front desk staff, and other departments.

Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.

Document the reason for visit and relevant patient history.

Record vital signs, height, weight, and other key health indicators.

Assist providers with patient examinations and procedures.

Administer medications under provider orders.

Update charts with allergies, medication usage, and immunization history.

Complete laboratory slips and necessary documentation.

Administer immunizations as ordered.

Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection.

Educate and counsel patients as needed based on their visit.

Clean and sterilize medical instruments and equipment.

Perform x-ray positioning per provider instructions (if certified).

Screen and triage patients upon arrival.

Communicate lab results via phone at the provider’s request.

Manage inventory: order supplies, medications, and narcotics; stock exam rooms.

Identify opportunities for improvement and assist with implementing quality initiatives.

Answer patient inquiries regarding health, medications, lab results, or follow-ups, as appropriate and within scope.

Initiate standing orders after triage, such as pregnancy, strep, or flu tests.

Supervise Medical Assistants and lab assistants in the absence of an RN (LVNs only).

Assist in preparing reports to fulfill state and federal requirements.

Participate in Quality Improvement activities.

Support additional clinical duties as assigned.
