Description

Hanover Foods Corporation is seeking an experienced and dependable Agriculture Field Manager for our Clayton Delaware Agriculture Department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties listed below are representative of the types of responsibilities required for the role. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed to meet the needs of the organization:

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with growers, providing technical support and guidance on best agricultural practices.
  • Monitors crop development and conduct regular field visits to assess plant health, soil conditions, and pest/disease pressure.
  • Ensures adherence to all federal, state, and local agricultural regulations, including pesticide use, food safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Tracks and analyzes yield data to support planting schedules, grower settlements, and future contracting strategies.
  • Collaborates with R&D teams and seed suppliers to evaluate new seed varieties, crop protection methods, and precision agriculture tools.
  • Coordinates seasonal labor requirements and provides direction to field crews during peak planting and harvest periods.
  • Promotes sustainable farming practices to maximize yields while reducing environmental impact and resource consumption.
  • Prepares reports, forecasts, and budget updates related to crop production, input usage, and harvest outcomes.
  • Participates in grower meetings, training programs, and outreach initiatives to align on company goals and standards.
  • Acts as the primary problem-solver for issues arising during planting, growing, or harvesting operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager / Director of Agriculture.

 

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, or related field required.
  • CCA (Certified Crop Advisor) credential preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of crop production, soil fertility, and integrated pest management practices.
  • Experience with GPS/GIS mapping systems and precision agriculture technologies.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with growers, staff, and management.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines, particularly during seasonal demands.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and agricultural recordkeeping or mapping software.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic equipment or field logistics challenges.
  • Understanding of sustainability initiatives and environmental stewardship in crop production.
