POSITION SUMMARY:
The YMCA of Southern Nevada is looking for year-round lifeguards and swim instructors to join our team! This is a part-time in person position located at the Centennial Hills YMCA (6601 N Buffalo Drive, Las Vegas) or the Skyview YMCA (3050 E Centennial Parkway, North Las Vegas. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enforce aquatic safety and maintenance standards and guidelines.
- Monitor all activities in the aquatic area. Assure the safety of members and guests as the single overriding objective.
- Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly or by following provided plans.
- Maintain attendance and skill accomplishment records.
- Promote association programs and objectives as well as the national goals of the YMCA, including character development.
- Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Maintain needed aquatic certifications.
ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS:
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
- Attend required abuse risk management training.
- Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.
- Reports essential abuse risk management information to their supervisor, executive director, or human resources.

- Must successfully pass a water test consisting of various strokes and general swimming skills.
