Job Overview

This role plays a critical role in ensuring the efficiency of our transportation operations. Using routing software such as RoadNet Anywhere, you’ll plan and optimize daily delivery and pickup routes for our DSD, hotel, backhaul, and territory fleets. Your work directly impacts customer satisfaction, fleet productivity, and overall logistics performance.

 

You’ll be responsible not only for route creation but also for system maintenance, real-time issue resolution, and collaboration with drivers and transportation leadership. What does your day look like? Some of your duties may include:

 

  • Develops daily route assignments based on scheduling and customer requirements, utilizing RoadNet Anywhere for route standardization.
  • Evaluates incoming pickup and deliveries and route assignments as determined by RoadNet Anywhere and determines drivers' route assignments that ensure balanced daily workloads and productivity.
  • Assists the Transportation department in address corrections or changes by providing research or local routing knowledge.
  • Responds/reacts to drivers as well as road problem situations, ensuring maximum on-road efficiency and optimum customer service.
  • Performs routine route analysis and planning for new and/or additional routes. Meets regularly with Transportation Manager and/or Supervisor to review status of daily routing.
  • Monitors and prepares reports to provide daily feedback on staffing and workload performance to ensure daily productivity.
  • Conducts routine systems maintenance within Roadnet Anywhere to include employee numbers, geo codes, service time types, rush hour models and route pass maintenance.
  • Assists as required with special transportation requirements. In addition, assists management by recommending proper vehicle utilization planning the right size truck for the customer needs.
  • Handling scheduling of PMs and driver assistance.

 

Things you need to be able to do:

 

  • Proficiency in RoadNet Anywhere or similar routing software
  • Strong knowledge of transportation logistics, geographical routing, and data analysis
  • Geographic knowledge of routing service preferred. Ability to compile and interpret analytical data and act independently in making workload and resource allocation decisions.
  • Problem-solving ability, resource allocation.
  • Strong communication skills are required to provide timely and accurate follow-up to both internal and external customers.
  • Strong written and verbal skills are also required when addressing issues and concerns revolving specifically around order scheduling.
  • Must be able to sit and process data flows for long durations of time. Weekend work is required in some facet.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Able to stand for long periods.
  • Able to reach and bend.

 

Things that are a plus:

 

  • 3+ years of experience in a routing, logistics, or dispatching role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (higher education a plus).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
