Schedule

 

Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. Willing to consider alternative or flexible schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Communicate and provide guidance to employees regarding leave entitlements, procedures, and required documentation

 

Process leave of absence approvals and rejections in accordance with company policies and federal/state leave laws

 

Track various types of leave including, but not limited to, continuous, intermittent, paid, and unpaid

 

Coordinate with managers to develop modified work schedules and/or return-to-work accommodations

 

Provide appropriate documentation to vendors regarding life, pension, and disability claims

 

Respond to unemployment/reemployment inquiries, contest eligibility when necessary, and store said documents

 

Act as a centralized resource for employees with benefit questions

 

Communicate with various vendors or brokers to respond to general employee benefit inquiries

 

Provide or direct employees to information and resources to improve understanding and utilization of the total benefit package

 

Conduct appropriate research and resolve employee concerns regarding benefits

 

Explain benefit programs and other payroll/HR-related matters in new employee orientation

 

Assist with new hire benefit enrollment, when requested

 

Process payroll transactions for benefit deductions

 

Prepare payment for group plan invoices and process monthly billings

 

Audit and verify accuracy and eligibility of all employee benefit change requests

 

Travel to FUI’s divisions for one-day trips as needed during open enrollment

 

Process open enrollment benefit plan transfers

 

Annually issue individual summary of benefits to employees

 

Process and track all COBRA events

 

Oversee the processing of tuition reimbursement, wellness day, and volunteer day programs

 

Review, create, and distribute ACA and 1095 forms

 

Monitor and document compliance with OSHA, DOT, food safety, and company policy trainings

 

Assist in overseeing the renewal of employee certificates and/or licenses

 

Request random drug screen selections, maintain results, and notify and assist HR Director with EAP referrals, when needed

 

Upkeep employee benefit files and other records, as needed

 

Support general Human Resources functions, as requested

 

Maintain regular and predictable on-site attendance

 

Situations may arise that require employees to temporarily or permanently assume responsibility for tasks not specifically outlined in this job description. Employees may be requested to work additional hours and/or accommodate a heavier than normal workload.

 

Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or accounting, preferred; or comparable education and/or experience

 

Three years of experience in a payroll and/or benefits role, preferred

 

Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred

 

Knowledge of relevant employment (payroll/benefits) legislation

 

Experience with management of an HRIS and payroll processing system; Paycom experience, a plus

 

High level of proficiency, accuracy, discretion, and confidentiality

 

Experience in a high-volume, multi-location environment, preferred

 

Advanced written and verbal communication skills with a high level of professionalism 

 

Strong sense of initiative and independent problem-solving with the ability to manage time and deadlines with little supervision

 

Ability to attain and/or maintain a standard driver’s license

 

Physical Requirements
