Job Title: Receiving Clerk
Department: Shipping/Receiving 
Reports to: Distribution Supervisor
FLSA status: Non-Exempt/Hourly

 

SUMMARY

The receiving clerk manages all inbound packaging and materials.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2-3 years related experience and/or training

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Receive and inspect all incoming materials in accordance with standard work instructions.

  • Accurately count, measure, and verify materials to ensure they meet quality and specification requirements.

  • Maintain inventory accuracy through proper documentation and control procedures.

  • Follow all processes and procedures in compliance with ISO 9001 standards.

  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING ENVIORNMENT

This position requires regular and punctual attendance, including the ability to work all scheduled shifts and any required overtime. The role involves standing, walking, reaching outward, and performing fine motor tasks constantly throughout the day. Employees will also need to frequently bend, squat, or kneel, and occasionally reach above shoulder level. Climbing and crawling are not required.

The position also requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials regularly. Employees must be able to:

  • Lift/Carry up to 10 lbs, 11–20 lbs, and 21–50 lbs on a constant basis

  • Push/Pull up to 12 lbs constantly, 13–25 lbs constantly, and 26–50 lbs frequently

Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required, including safety glasses and steel-toed safety shoes or boots. Respirators, ear protection, and other PPE are not required for this position.

The work environment includes exposure to moderate noise levels and varying temperatures, typical of a manufacturing or warehouse setting.

REQUIRED TRAINING

All required training is determined by the department supervisor and/or manager. Procedures critical to this position may be identified as such on the Department Training Matrixes, which are maintained by the Human Resources Department.

Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft office products
  • Must be able to drive a forklift.
  • Must be able to use different types of measuring devices. IE: tape measures, etc.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • The ability to read documents.
  • Ability to communicate with Supervisor and Manager.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic Math: the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions, and decimals.
