Job Title: Weld Supervisor

Reports to: Operations Manager
FLSA status: Non-Exempt/Hourly

 

SUMMARY

The Weld Supervisor assists the Focused Factory Manager in ensuring that the logistics associated with safety, quality and production are maintained in the assigned weld bays.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • 10 years of continued growth in Welding.
  • Level 3 inspector or CWI required.
  • Must have ASME Section 9 / AWS knowledge and experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for the scheduling of work to achieve the objectives of SQDIP.

  • Determine the correct measures and resources needed to efficiently move product through weld.

  • Must be able to perform MIG and Tig welding on standard and exotic materials.

  • Ensures the execution of the training plan for personnel as directed by the Operations Manager.

  • Proficient in use and training of the related operating procedures (i.e., ISO Procedures, Design Drawings, Work Instructions, etc.).

  • Assign personnel to specific jobs based on qualifications and abilities.

  • Ensures the work center is organized and ready for the next day’s production.

  • Identify and report problems with equipment function, parts, and raw materials to the applicable resource.

  • Proactively implements and sustains lean manufacturing and 5S practices.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Some knowledge of basic trigonometry, angles and arcs.
  • Knowledge in performing English-to-Metric conversions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING ENVIORNMENT

This position requires regular and punctual attendance, including the ability to work all scheduled shifts and any required overtime. The role involves standing, walking, reaching outward, and performing fine motor tasks frequently throughout the day. Employees will also need to frequently bend, squat, or kneel, and occasionally reach above shoulder level. Climbing and crawling are not required.

The position also requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials regularly. Employees must be able to:

  • Lift/Carry: 10 lbs or less (frequently), 11–20 lbs (occasionally), and 21–50 lbs (constantly)

  • Push/Pull:  25–50 lbs (frequently)

Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required, including ear protection, safety glasses, steel-toed safety shoes or boots, welding hoods, grinding shields, and welding gloves. Respirators are not required.

The work environment includes exposure to dust, welding arc rays, welding fumes, gas fumes, sulfur-based cutting oil, grinding and sharp chips from machining, moderate to high noise levels, and moderate temperatures. 

REQUIRED TRAINING

All required training is determined by the department supervisor and/or manager. Procedures critical to this position may be identified as such on the Department Training Matrixes, which are maintained by the Human Resources Department.
