Position Summary

The Supplier Quality Engineer will champion Incoming Inspection and be responsible for ensuring that incoming raw materials, components, and products from suppliers meet all required specifications and quality standards. This role works closely with procurement, engineering, and suppliers to develop and implement inspection criteria, procedures, manage nonconformances, and improve supplier quality.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain incoming inspection procedures and sampling plans based on risk and product criticality.
  • Inspect, test, and evaluate incoming materials and components to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and quality data in ERP/MRP and QMS systems.
  • Analyze inspection data and generate reports to track quality trends, KPIs and target continuous improvement.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions (CAPA) for incoming quality issues and nonconformances.  Work with suppliers to ensure SCARs are completed and resolutions are effective.
  • Collaborate with various department staff to provide data about current quality levels and expertise for maintaining and improving the quality of work and products.
  • Review and approve supplier-provided documentation such as Certificates of Conformance (CoC), Material Test Reports (MTRs), and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
  • Report to Management on the performance of quality audits, corrective actions, including the need for improvement.
  • Conduct plant floor audits to communicate with production associates and review all quality data such as scrap and sorting costs that need to be addressed with suppliers.
  • Use measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, CMM, and vision systems.
  • Participate in audits (internal and supplier) as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

  • Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required. Bachelor of Science in Engineering preferred
  • Job Experience Requirements: 2+ years quality engineering or inspection experience
  • Travel Requirements: <5 % of time.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Prior experience in corrective actions, root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone), FMEA, and control plans
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, drawings, specifications, and governmental regulations
  • Understanding of Measurement Tools Calibration
  • Cross-functional team communication skills
  • Presentation and organizational skills

Salary Range: $80,000-120,000 per year depending on experience.
