Job Title:             Rehab Director

Department:     Therapy

Reports To:        EDO

 

Summary:

Supervision of Therapy Staff. Clinical management of facility’s rehabilitation program, including management of intensity and duration of therapy services, overall caseload, coding, documentation, support, and clinical communication. Direction of therapy programs, training, and in-services for facility therapy staff.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for day to day operational direction, and administrative management of all therapy-related services.
  • Maintains proper attendance and punctuality to ensure that the department is operated in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure staffing requirements are met and notifies area and regional manager when staffing needs are not being met.
  • Promotes a safe and efficient working environment by adhering to, and enforcement and the facilities’ policies and procedures.
  • Treat employees, patients, and business partners with respect. Fosters teamwork by trusting and supporting each other while encouraging collaboration at all levels of the organization.
  • Attend and participates in staff meetings, required in-services, and other meetings, as requested.
  • Must be able to communicates information effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ensure insurance is verified and prior approval is received, when applicable, before patients receive treatment.
  • Ensure evaluation and treat orders, clarification orders, and D/C orders are completed.
  • Oversees the implementation of established therapy plans of care.
  • Management of scheduled treatment days, per the Plan of Care, for patients, on a daily basis.
  • Tracking admissions and discharges, to ensure appropriate scheduling of evaluating therapists for timely completion of evaluations and discharge summaries.
  • Ensure Therapists are completing documentation properly and completely, in a timely manner.
  • Monitoring productivity of therapists, labor hours, flex-time, and overtime.
  • Ensuring quarterly screenings are performed.
  • Provide monthly in-services, as needed.
  • Provides therapy updates and any needed documentation (e.g. evaluations, progress notes, daily notes, recerts, etc.), in a timely manner, for any insurance that requires additional authorization for continuation of therapy services. 
  • Assists in marketing and developing customer relations as needed.
  • Performs periodic documentation audits according to site visit reports.
  • Utilizes material, equipment, and time in a safe, beneficial, and cost-effective manner.
  • Organizes workload to complete responsibilities in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Observe infection control and standard precautions.

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises employees in the Rehab Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; assisting with appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education & Qualification Requirements:

Level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired specific to discipline.

Demonstrates leadership, organization, and communication expertise.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulation. The ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Including but not limited to effectively present information, respond to questions from group of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Physical Demands:

Able to lift up to 50 pounds, perform one-person transfer under routine and emergency situations, reposition a bedbound patient alone and able to sit, stand, bend stoop, kneel, pull, climb, reach, lift, and perform repetitive movements of the upper extremities. May be exposed to unsanitary conditions in some facility or home settings. May be exposed to high crime areas within the service community.

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range on intellectual and practical problems.
