Lower Lights Christian Health Center (LLCHC) transforms the overall health of Central Ohio, serving one individual at a time. Operating out of seven locations, we offer medical care (primary care, dental, vision, OB/GYN, telehealth), behavioral health care, 340B pharmacy, nutritional assistance programs, and more. Working hours are Monday - Friday with occasional Saturday morning coverage. 

JOB SUMMARY 

PART-TIME - EVERY WEEKEND (8am - noon)

The Pharmacy technician completes the data entry of the prescription and measures, counts, prepares the label, and records the dosage and number of medications.  The Pharmacy technician performs all the department administrative functions, which do not require broad technical training or professional judgement.

DUTIES 

RESPONSIBILITY 1.  Pharmacy Services

 

  1. Performs duties assigned by a licensed Pharmacist. Areas of work are checked routinely for maintenance of quality control. Work is conducted in accordance with generally accepted standards of practice following departmental procedures and policies as outlined in the department operations manual.
  2. Assist with the arrangement of Pharmacy delivery orders for pick-up and delivery.
  3. Reads and interprets physicians' orders received in the pharmacy and transcribes same into the pharmacy computer medication profile. Work is verified by licensed pharmacist.
  4. Maintains patient profiles which include list of medicine taken by the patient.
  5. Prepares in accordance with pharmacy law and standards of pharmacy practice outpatient RXs to be dispensed after pharmacist approval.
  6. Using computer program prepackages medications, which are not available in unit, using automatic prepackaging and label machine. Keeps appropriate records for recall purpose.
  7. Checks and removes outdated meds on a routine basis to ensure that no deteriorated meds are in stock. Keeps appropriate records.
  8. Assists Billing Department by using appropriate computer function, reason codes and dates for charging and crediting. Prepares and processes insurance claims.  Operates cash register and reconciles patient payments daily.
  9. Maintains competency in caring for patients of all age groups and developmental stages and maintains competency as specifically indicated by orientation guidelines for a particular unit.
  10. Following established departmental rules, procedures, polices, quality improving objectives, environmental safety, or infection control standards.

 

RESPONSIBILITY 2. Time Management

 

  1. The Pharmacy Technician will provide appropriate and professional care for patients at LLCHC for a minimum of 32 hours per week.
  2. The Pharmacy Technician will complete all continuing education as required to maintain a current certification as Pharmacy Technician in the state of Ohio.
  3.  Prepares weekly/monthly order of supplies, receives and unpacks order- verifying quantities against invoice.
  4. Daily cleaning and maintaining the equipment and working area.
  5. Responds in a timely fashion to requests and questions and answers, and answers telephone calls in the pharmacy.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High school diploma.
  • Certificate from hospital-based pharmacy technical training program, junior college     graduate or State certification as Pharmacy Technician. 
  • Minimum of three years’ experience specifically in a community health setting preferred.
  • Ability to strongly embrace and personify the mission of Lower Lights Christian Health Center.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English with an amicable personality are required.  Effective oral communication in Spanish preferred.
  • Work under stressful conditions as well as irregular hours may be required.
  • Ability to work in an efficient manner.
  • Able to type and use computers and software programs related to Pharmacy.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while providing high quality and compassionate care.
  • Requires a high level of concentration and attention intermittently. 
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
