AFS-USA increases global competency through study abroad programs, hosting foreign exchange students, and global learning workshops. Our team collaborates nationwide to deliver high-quality programs and global education resources.

As part of the Sponsored Programs team, you’ll play a key role in expanding AFS-USA’s hosting footprint, supporting volunteer networks, and ensuring compliance with grant and Department of State requirements. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to people-to-people diplomacy and intercultural understanding through hands-on program implementation and community engagement.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Ensure timely placement of students with screened host families and approved schools.
  • Support and train volunteers in hosting processes and grant compliance.
  • Identify and develop new hosting communities and volunteer networks.
  • Conduct site visits and contribute to grant reporting and program evaluation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support hosting success nationwide.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • 3–5 years of experience in volunteer management, recruitment, or community engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating group meetings, delivering training content, and making presentations.
  • Experience facilitating trainings and meetings, both virtually and in-person.
  • Comfort working independently and as part of a virtual team.
  • A valid driver’s license.

 

WORK EXPECTATIONS:

  • AFS USA work hours are generally from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday EST; however, given the nature of this position and the necessity to work closely with volunteers, the specific schedule of this role will be discussed with the hiring manager.

SALARY:

  • $58,500 per annum plus benefits including: medical, dental, vision, and PTO
