Summary 

CDL A Drivers are trusted to professionally deliver rental equipment and products to our customers. The Driver loads, unloads and secures the equipment for transit. The Driver relocates units as required and performs maintenance on the units as needed. CDL A Drivers are responsible for safety and must operate their trucks in the safest possible manner at all times.  The Driver also assists in the service department and other areas as needed or when experiencing downtime. 

Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to: 

  • Transport rental equipment and products to and from customer jobsites or rental locations using a CDL A truck, CDL Class A license required.  Safely navigate construction jobsites and other delivery locations and unload the equipment in desired location.  Driving is the most significant portion of the job. 

  • Keeps truck, tools, and all equipment in good condition and in safe working order. Maintains optimum truck efficiency by ensuring the preventive maintenance requirements are met in accordance with the tractor manufacturer or lessor's instructions.  

  • Understands the importance of building relationships with our clients and consistently delivers positive interactions with them. 

  • Consistently shows strong customer service skills by having a neat appearance and professional demeanor to customers and co-workers at all times.   

  • Handles customers’ inquiries/requests timely.  

  • Communicates frequently with the branch and/or customers, ensuring that client schedules are maintained and if there are any delivery or pick up issues or delays, clients are immediately informed.  

  • Makes appropriate repairs to the delivered units.  

  • Completes DOT logs as required by the DOT.  Ensures that there is an accurate, signed paper log for every day of the week.   

  • Complies with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration ("FMCSA") regulations. Is especially diligent in adhering to Hours-of-Service regulations.   

  • Maintains up to date permits at all times. 

  • Occasionally travels overnight for long distance deliveries. 

  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily. 

  • Report any needed maintenance of trucks to Branch Manager immediately. 

  • Safely load and unload storage units and offices from various trucks and trailers using a gas-powered forklift. 

  • Keep accurate records of units, monitor inventory levels and assist with inventory control. 

  • Inspect and document returned units and offices, tagging them appropriately for repair (red tag) or readiness for use (green tag). 

  • Assist Yard Workers in moving units and offices in and out of the yard for maintenance or deployment. 

  • Maintain organized storage of units and offices in the yard and ensure a hazard-free environment. 

  • Pre / Post inspection to identify any issues and report them promptly. 

  • Light repairs and yard organization handle minor repairs, keep yard organized and maintain a clean work environment. 

  • Fulfill other assigned duties as necessary. 

  • Work in an outdoor environment with potential exposure to heat, dust, or noise. 

  • Tasks may include periodic lifting, climbing, lifting items weighing 35-40 pounds, hours of seated work, and hours of standing work. 

  • Maintains a safe work environment. 

  • Performs job functions safely at all times. 

  • Participates in all safety meetings. 

  • Communicates all concerns or violations to Branch Manager immediately. 

  • Uses the proper Personal Protective Equipment when performing work duties. Employee wears the proper shoes, glasses, gloves, ear protection, etc.  Employee is properly attired to perform their job safely (no loose-fitting clothes, unsafe jewelry, etc.). 

  • Disposes of waste properly. 

  • Abides by all local, state, and Federal laws; reads, understands, and agrees to follow the policies outlined in the Company Safety Manual and Company Transportation manual. 

  • Demonstrates behaviors aligned with Company’s Core Values at all times. 

  • Continuous Improvement 

  • Assists in driving a continuous improvement strategy within the business to result in ongoing incremental gains in quality and efficiency. 

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.  

Job Requirements 

  • Current, Valid CDL A Driver’s License required with clean driving record. 

  • 1 Year of Commercial Driving Experience. 

  • Firm understanding of Company’s driving policies and the rules of the road.  Must exercise defensive driving skills at all times.  

  • Ensures a driving record is maintained that meets acceptable parameters for the Company and/or our vendors/ customers.  Being unable to drive for may affect one’s ability to continue employment.  

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in forklift operation.
