FUSE Makerspace Instructor

Summary
Under direct supervision from assigned CNM Ingenuity Director or Manager, develops and presents
short courses and/or workshops, providing personal and/or professional education. Specifically
performs one or more of the following: Teaches short-term courses and workshops; creates curriculum;
establishes and assesses student performance objectives; determines student grades and keeps
accurate records. Mix of theoretical and practical sessions will be required to demonstrate student level
of knowledge and understanding. A successful candidate will have experience in one or more of the
skills listed under preferences below. We are looking for instructors to support our various non-credit
programs. Please address your educational and industry experience and skills in the areas listed in the
minimums and preferences.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

• Demonstrated knowledge of specific skills listed in Preferences
• Demonstrated teaching or training skills.
• Effective written and communication skills.
• Exceptional customer service abilities.
• Ability to adjust and adapt curriculum and teaching styles to meet the needs of various stakeholders and students.
• Additional assignments based on skills may become available.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimums

• Two years of industry or freelance experience (freelance experience to be demonstrated with portfolio review)
• OR Associates Degree in art/fine art, trades, or related field (may count as two years of experience)
• OR Current industry certifications may be accepted in lieu of experience.
• AND One (1) year of related teaching or training experience.

Preferences

• Current recognized industry certification.
• Experience with one or more of the following:
  • Cold work metal shop equipment
  • MIG welding
  • TIG welding
  • CNC plasma
  • Powdercoating
  • Metal Lathe & Manual Mill
  • Woodworking
  • Woodturning
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Screenprinting
  • CNC router
  • Laser engraving and cutting
  • 3D Printing
  • Vinyl printing
  • CAD
  • Fiber Arts (e.g. sewing, embroidery, serger)
