JOB SUMMARY 

Skylar, a member of the Starco Brands family, is seeking a talented and passionate Art Director to help define the creative future of our growing fragrance brand. As part of the Starco Brands team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate and share resources across multiple brands, so you may also work on exciting projects for other Starco brands. 

 

The Art Director will play a key role in championing Skylar’s refreshed creative vision across all consumer touchpoints, including brand identity, product packaging, social and digital content, campaigns, retail visual merchandising, and experiential activations. 

 

This role will work closely with our VP of Creative to develop disruptive campaigns and compelling storytelling that bring Skylar’s vibrant fragrance world to life. The Art Director will oversee creative development, photoshoots, and collaborations with best-in-class creative vendors. This role reports to the VP of Creative and operates in a hybrid model, with two days a week in our West Hollywood, CA office.

Founded in 2017, Skylar reimagines fragrance with scents that are hypoallergenic, vegan, cruelty-free, and safe for sensitive skin. Recently relaunched with a fresh perspective, Skylar is focused on bold storytelling and culture-forward campaigns that continue to inspire self-expression through effortless, wearable fragrances. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Partner with VP of Creative to evolve and elevate Skylar’s creative direction across all brand touchpoints. 

  • Lead the 360° creative development for campaigns, from concept to delivery, including social, digital, paid media, retail, and experiential activations. 

  • Develop and maintain a brand book and visual guidelines to ensure a consistent, ownable creative aesthetic across photography, video, product, and lifestyle content. 

  • Art direct photoshoots and video productions, including casting, location scouting, styling, and final selects. 

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners—photographers, videographers, agencies, and freelancers—to produce disruptive and on-brand content. 

  • Translate creative vision into retail and experiential assets including in-store displays, Sephora gondolas, and influencer or consumer events. 

  • Build efficient creative workflows for concepting, review, and approvals to ensure high-quality, on-time delivery. 

  • Mentor and inspire designers to nurture creative growth and alignment with brand aesthetic. 

  • Partner closely with Marketing, Social, and Retail teams to ensure creative outputs are channel-optimized and performance-driven.

Qualifications

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 5+ years of art direction experience within beauty, fashion, or lifestyle brands. 

  • Strong experience producing and art directing photoshoots and videos, including casting and post-production. 

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and knowledge of creative project management workflows. 

  • Experience developing 360° campaign creative for digital, social, retail, and experiential activations. 

  • Proven ability to lead and inspire small creative teams and manage external vendors. 

  • Bonus if you have experience refreshing or building a brand aesthetic in the prestige beauty or lifestyle space.
