GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Performs various legal secretarial duties within the State's Attorney's Office.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Answers telephone for the Office; refers callers/visitors to appropriate individual, office, department or agency; receives and distributes messages as necessary; schedules appointments; receives and distributes incoming mail as directed;

Types and files various pleadings and correspondence, including Informations, Indictments, criminal complaints, memoranda, petitions, motions, warrants, discovery, compliance, subpoenas, etc.;

Performs all duties related to general file maintenance and organization, including the opening and closing of files, photocopying and scanning; retrieving information as requested; Organizes and prepares files for various dockets;

Maintains files for assigned ASAs, including organization, data entry, dictation/transcription, maintaining and disseminating all discoverable materials,

Provides trial assistance to ASAs; notifies appropriate individuals of court dates and makes necessary arrangements for victims and witnesses;

Calendaring duties for assigned ASAs; schedule appointments as required;

Data Entry duties as directed; supplies Victim/Witness Specialist with disposition information if required;

Provides assistance and information to police departments and other governmental agencies;

Provides general assistance to various Office divisions, including attorneys, Victim/Witness Specialist and administrative staff, when necessary;

Demonstrates proficiency in word processing, data, legal and case management software

Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Madison County, IL residency requirements must be met within six (6) months of hire

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Supervision is provided by State's Attorney, assigned ASAs and person(s) as designated by the State's Attorney.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years related experience are required.
