Our goal is to make the entire loan process easy and efficient, deliver phenomenal customer service, and close loans as quickly as possible. We are currently seeking a Mortgage Accounting Manager to join our team! 

Overview:

The Accounting Manager serves as a subject matter expert in mortgage loan accounting, with a focus on loan funding, sales, servicing, and warehouse lending reconciliation. This role supports the Director of Accounting in managing accounting operations, enhancing procedures, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Mortgage Loan Accounting & Funding

- Reconcile loans held for sale and loan funding/sale activities daily.

- Prepare and review journal entries for loan transactions and intercompany activities.

- Track and record deal deposits, transaction fees, and related expenses.

- Assist with preparation of interest receivable schedule and tracking of net interest income.

- Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual closing of books.

- Analyze and explain changes in account balances; resolve reconciling items.

Servicing Books and Records

- Manage accounting for mortgage servicing rights (MSRs).

- Reconcile escrow accounts (taxes, insurance, PMI).

- Track and post mortgage payments, delinquencies, and payoffs.

- Ensure accurate reporting of servicing income and expenses.

Warehouse Lending Reconciliation

- Reconcile warehouse lines of credit used to fund mortgage loans.

- Track loan funding, investor sales, and warehouse line paydowns.

- Monitor interest expense and borrowing costs; ensure timely reporting.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements as applicable.

- Assist with preparation of monthly and quarterly management financial package.

- Support tax preparation and help with agency / regulatory audits and filings.

- Support internal and external audits, including investor and regulatory audits.

- Maintain documentation for required compliance and internal controls.

Process Improvement & Collaboration

- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.

- Document and enhance accounting procedures and workflows.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and support business transactions.

- Serve as backup for various accounting roles and assist with ad hoc projects.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

- 7+ years of mortgage accounting experience required.

- Experience with loan origination systems and Oracle Cloud preferred.

- Strong knowledge of US GAAS and mortgage industry practices.

- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
