- Standard Hours: Schedule is 5 8-hour shifts during training, with 2 evenings until 8pm. Details to be discussed in interview and/or at offer stage.
Training
- Orientation: Alternatives provides thorough orientation and training for all new staff. You can expect a one-week orientation, where you will learn all about Alternatives and be prepared for your role. This first week is scheduled from 9 AM to 5 PM at our Alternatives Training Center.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field. Alternatively, at least 5 years of experience in corrections, case management, or a similar field may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Ability to relate to residents in a firm yet empathetic manner.
- Computer and word-processing skills, with demonstrated experience in documentation and record keeping.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Ability to pass federal drug screening requirements and a background check.
What You Will Do in This Position
As the Transitional Living Case Manager, you will support residents in the final phase of their pre-release programming as they take the next steps toward independent living. This is a highly rewarding position that plays a pivotal role in our residents’ journey to a fresh start.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Regularly meeting with residents to help them secure transitional living arrangements.
- Following up on their programming and expectations.
- Documenting sessions and meetings consistently.
Interpersonal skills are crucial in this role, as you will frequently collaborate with Probation and Parole officers and other community partners to build and maintain rapport regarding clients.
About the Team
The Transitional Living (TL) Case Manager will collaborate with Passages and Alpha House pre-release programming, primarily supporting residents in our Men’s program at Alpha House. When needed, the TL Case Manager may assist with other caseloads or programs.
The Alpha pre-release program is overseen by an experienced Program Supervisor who is excited to have you join the team! You will be part of a dedicated team of case managers who support our residents on a daily basis.
