Job Overview
OrthoMed Anesthesia is seeking a dedicated Medical Records Specialist to join our growing organization. This role is crucial in managing and maintaining accurate patient records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and supporting the efficient operation of our practice. This is a full-time position based at our corporate office in Addison, TX. The role requires on-site presence during regular business hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and organize electronic medical records (EMR) for anesthesia patients
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of patient records
- Coordinate with anesthesiologists, nurses, and administrative staff to gather and update patient information
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of EMR systems
- Process requests for medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Perform regular audits to ensure records meet quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with billing specialists to ensure accurate coding and documentation for anesthesia services
- Assist in preparing reports for quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Health Information Management or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred
- 2+ years of experience in medical records management, preferably in anesthesia or surgical settings
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, especially related to anesthesiology
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations including HIPAA, HITECH, and Joint Commission standards
- Proficiency in electronic medical record systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
