Description

BASIC FUNCTION

 

1.         Creates a culture of service excellence by anticipating and exceeding customer                 expectations.

 

2.         Works in a cooperative manner with coworkers in order to maximize practice         efficiency.

 

3.         Conduct medical history taking, exam, diagnosis and treatment.

 

4.         Interpret lab work.

 

5.         Perform routine outpatient procedures for which they have adequate training and             experience.

 

6.         Counsel patient and provide patient education.

 

7.         Assist in chart review and policy and procedure development.

 

8.         Conduct and document PDSAs for quality improvement.

 

9.         Integrate and Employ Care Model and Performance Improvement Model in           delivery of care.

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

 

  1. Provide comprehensive women's health care

 

a. Conduct initial assessments, including medical history, physical examinations, and review of symptoms

b. Perform gynecological examinations, including pelvic exams, Pap smears, and breast examinations

c. Diagnose and treat common women’s health/gynecological conditions, such as menstrual disorders, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and menopause-related issues

d. Offer counseling and education on reproductive health, contraception, family planning, and sexual health

 

  1. Manage prenatal and postnatal care

 

a. Conduct prenatal visits, including monitoring fetal development, assessing maternal health, and providing guidance on healthy pregnancies

b. Perform prenatal screenings and diagnostic tests, interpret results, and collaborate with obstetricians or other specialists as needed

c. Provide postpartum care, including post-delivery examinations, breastfeeding support, and addressing postpartum complications and maternal behavioral health condition

 

  1. Perform contraceptive counseling and family planning services

a. Discuss various contraception methods, their effectiveness, and side effects with patients

b. Prescribe and administer contraceptives, including oral contraceptives, intrauterine devices (IUDs), and contraceptive implants with credential approval of Chief Medical Officer.

c. Educate patients on fertility awareness methods and assist in natural family planning

 

  1. Conduct menopause management and hormone replacement therapy (HRT)

 

a. Evaluate and manage menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and mood changes

b. Prescribe and monitor hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for menopausal women

c. Provide counseling on lifestyle modifications, nutrition, and exercise for managing menopause-related concerns

 

  1. Screen and manage common women's health conditions

 

a. Perform screenings for cervical cancer, breast cancer, osteoporosis, and mental health conditions

b. Manage common gynecological issues, including urinary tract infections (UTIs), pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), and endometriosis

c. Offer diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)

d. Diagnose and treat applicable mental health conditions 

 

  1. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team

 

a. Work closely with medical provider and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and patient-centered care

b. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case discussions, and care planning

c. Refer patients to specialists for further evaluation or management of complex conditions

 

  1. Document patient encounters and maintain records

 

a. Document accurate and timely patient information, assessments, diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up plans in electronic health records (EHR)

b. Ensure compliance with documentation standards, legal requirements, and patient confidentiality guidelines

c. Complete and submit necessary reports, forms, and insurance documentation

d. Timely completion and closure of charts as per organization policy.

 

  1. Engage in professional development and quality improvement

 

a. Stay updated with the latest evidence-based practices and guidelines in women's health through continuing education and professional development activities

b. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical research, and outcome measurement to enhance patient care outcomes

c. Maintain appropriate licensure, certifications, and professional memberships as required

 

  1. Adhere to legal and ethical standards

 

a. Practice within the scope of practice defined by state regulations and organizational policies

b. Uphold ethical standards and professional integrity in all patient interactions and decision-making processes

c. Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards, including maintaining patient confidentiality and informed consent

 

  10.    Performs other duties as assigned
